Once most women relegated most men to irrelevancy, they turned on them.

A great post from the MGTOW board by misandryindex:

I think a lot of women have been insufferable ego-maniacs from the beginning of time - but it's only recently that the prevalence of it has started growing quickly. As I remember earlier generations, it was usually men who told the self-deprecating jokes and men who knew better than to try and last-word a woman. It's a peculiar thing that so many women - including the writer of this piece - keep referring back to a past 'when things were different and men were pigs'. I suspect the truth - that men have always been the calmer, less egotistical and gentler sex - would be psychologically devastating to most women. It is precisely because we are this way that we can be disparaged and misrepresented as much as we are, and not be mental cases. Our capacity for tolerance, endurance and forgiveness couldn't be better demonstrated.

I've heard some interesting ideas as to why women's narcissism is on the rise, and the most obvious seems to be the introduction of visual media, such as film and especially television. Until film arrived, the average woman only saw those men who lived in the immediate vicinity, and being the creatures that they are, immediately envied the wife of the best-looking, most strapping and sociable buck in the neighborhood - but he was taken, and the best they could do was make do with whoever else was available. The pool not being particularly large, their expectations were not that high either.

As soon as film came to town, women started seeing a quality of man they had never seen before, and suddenly all the men in town, even the husband of the lucky wife they once envied, became second-rate. Once TV arrived, daily exposing women to powerful men who were handsome, unnaturally witty and unbelievably wealthy all men were doomed. Funny thing, this is the very same time that Feminism took hold with a vengeance - decades after women were given the vote.

Once most women relegated most men to irrelevancy, they turned on them. That's where we are now, about 50 years into it.
